What is SSC MTS Exam?

SSC MTS Exam (Staff Selection Commission Multi-Tasking Staff Exam) is conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). SSC MTS recruits candidates for Group ‘C’ non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and government agencies of India.

The SSC MTS exam is a tiered exam, which consists of a single computer-based test (CBT). The CBT is of 90 minutes duration and consists of 100 objective type questions. This all  questions must based on these topics:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Numerical Aptitude
  • General English
  • General Awareness

As per the SSC MTS Exam  2024 exam pattern, the exam consists of these  two sessions. SSC MTS 2024 exam is a computer-based exam which is conducted in online mode. SSC MTS Session 1 consists of two sections, which include Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving. SSC MTS Session II consists of two sections, which include General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. Eligibility:
  • The candidate should be a citizen of India, a subject of Bhutan or a subject of Nepal.
  • A Tibetan refugee, who came to India before January 1, 1962 to become a permanent resident of the country, can also apply.
  • A person of Indian origin who intends to permanently settle in India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East
  • African countries Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),
  • Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
Age Criteria:
  • 18-25 years for MTS (i.e. candidates born not earlier than 02.01.1998 and not later than 01.01.2005) and Havildar in CBN (Revenue Department).
  • 18-27 years for some posts of Havildar and MTS in CBIC (Department of Revenue) (i.e. candidates born not earlier than 02.01.1996 and not later than 01.01.2005).
Educational Criteria:
  • The candidate should have passed matriculation or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Exam Pattern:
  • The exam will consist of Computer Based Test, Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) (for the post of Havildar only).
  • The computer based exam will be consist of objective type, multiple choice questions.
  • The computer based test will be conducted in Hindi, English and 13 regional languages such as (i) Assamese, (ii) Bengali, (iii) Gujarati, (iv) Kannada, (v) Konkani, (vi) Malayalam, (vii) Manipuri, (viii) Marathi, (ix) Oriya, (x) Punjabi, (xi) Tamil, (xii) Telugu and (xiii) Urdu.
  • The computer-based exam will be conducted in two sessions: session-1 and session-2 and it will be
  • mandatory to attempt both the sessions  and  Not attempting this session will be disqualify the candidate.
  • There will be no negative marking in session-1. In session-2, there will be negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.
